How to care for your jewelry
We will introduce you to the characteristics of gemstones and how to care for them so that you can enjoy them for a long time while maintaining their beautiful shine.
Easy daily care
Get into the habit of wiping it down as soon as you take it off.
After use, jewelry will become dirty with sweat and oil. If left as is, it will cause the jewelry to lose its original shine.
Once removed, be sure to immediately wipe off any dirt with a soft cloth before storing.
Last on, first off
Oils and alcohol found in cosmetics, creams, hairspray, perfume, etc. are the biggest enemies of jewelry.
In addition, if you put on or take off your clothes while wearing jewelry, friction or snagging can cause the jewelry to break or get lost. Jewelry is delicate, so be careful when handling it.
When storing
The hardness of gemstones varies from as hard as diamonds to as soft as pearls. If hard and soft gemstones are stored together, they may rub against each other and become scratched.
When storing your gemstones, make good use of dividers in small bags or jewelry boxes to prevent them from bumping into each other, and store them one by one.
In these cases, remove it
Please remove your jewelry whenever possible when doing housework, bathing, showering, swimming, etc. Soap and limescale can dull the shine of your jewelry.
Also, please note that jewelry is sensitive to chlorine and sulfur, which can cause the gemstones and base metal to discolor.
Also, be sure to remove your jewelry when sleeping, as it can cause deformation or injury.
Easy care methods you can do at home
Rings, chain necklaces, and bracelets made only of base metal (gold or platinum)
1. Soak the ring in lukewarm water with a special cleaner or mild detergent, then scrub gently with a soft brush. Be sure to also polish the back of the ring and the gaps in the chain.
2. Be sure to rinse with fresh water.
3. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.
diamond
1. Soak in lukewarm water with a special cleaner or mild detergent, and gently scrub with a soft brush.
2. At this time, be sure to also carefully polish the back side of the diamond.
3. Be sure to rinse with fresh water.
4. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.
Pearl
Pearls are very delicate and vulnerable to sweat and acid. If you take them off, wipe them with a soft cloth on the same day. When storing them, be careful not to overlap with other jewelry.
For pearl necklaces, we recommend checking the strings once a year to make sure they are not loose and replacing them as soon as possible.
Colored Stones
Colored gemstones with high hardness, such as ruby, sapphire, cat's eye, and aquamarine, can be cleaned using a neutral detergent. (The cleaning method is the same as for diamonds.)
Shock-resistant gemstones
Just wipe it with a soft cloth. Be especially careful with emeralds and Paraiba tourmalines, as you should avoid giving them any shocks.
If stones of the same hardness come into contact with each other, both will be scratched, so keep them apart when storing.
Opal, turquoise, coral, amber, tortoiseshell, etc.
Simply wipe it with a soft cloth.
When storing them, wrap each one in a cloth or place them in a small bag and store them apart.
